New York Yankees sweep split squad and then lose one by garym23
The New York Yankees played two split squad games on Monday and won each. They defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates in Bradenton by the score of 6-0. They defeated the Philadelphia Phillies at home in Tampa by the score of 7-5. Alfredo Aceves started the road game and pitched four perfect innings. He has made two strong starts now in trying to win the 5th starter competition. He was an integral part of the bullpen last year and will probably serve in the same role this year. A year after becoming only the 4th Shortstop to join the 30-30 club, the 2006 NL Rookie of The Year has turned his game up another notch and is now considered to be the best Shortstop in the MLB. He started off as a leadoff hitter his first 3 seasons in the league, but he was moved into the number 3 spot in the lineup last season and had a lead off home run in the season opener.
